Erdogan predicted the return of Karabakh to the present owner

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Nagorno-Karabakh one day will return to its real master, will again become Azeri.

Speaking at the Congress of the red Crescent society in Ankara, the Turkish leader assured that he will support Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict. “Turkey from the very beginning of the Karabakh crisis was next to Azerbaijan and will continue,” said Erdogan.

Since the beginning of the active phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the early 90-ies of the last century, Turkey has supported Azerbaijan.

On the border with Armenia, Ankara has kept a large military group, which exercised political pressure on Armenia supported Nagorno-Karabakh. Since then, between Baku and Ankara are retained close ties in the military sphere.

All senior officers of the Azerbaijani army (major and above) are trained in Turkish military educational institutions.

During the current conflict, the press Secretary of the President of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic David Babayan said that Turkey may be involved in the exacerbation of the conflict in the region.

Nagorno-Karabakh, populated mostly by ethnic Armenians, is officially on the territory of Azerbaijan. The region declared independence in 1991. The active phase of hostilities between Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces over the control of Nagorny Karabakh started in 1992. In 1994, Azerbaijan, Armenia and the unrecognized Republic signed with the mediation of Russia, the Bishkek Protocol on ceasefire.

The truce in the Karabakh conflict zone has been violated, 2 April. The parties have accused each other of provocations and stated significant losses of the enemy.
