Security council says NATO's moves to Russian border affects global situation

The current international situation is demonstrating a tendency towards aggravation, with NATO approaching Russian borders, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Monday.

"The United States and its NATO partners are taking steps to bring their military infrastructure closer to the Russian border. Concurrently, they are puffing up the subject of a ‘Russian military threat.’ Poland and the Baltic states are joining this media frenzy," he said.

"Russia is forced to take response measure both in the political, economic and military spheres," Patrushev stressed. "These measures, including those in the Baltic region, are based on Russia’s national security strategy endorsed by the Russian president in late 2015."
