IRAN: JCPOA violation by a member can't be reciprocated by violation, unilaterally

Deputy Chief of Staff of the President for Political Affairs Hamid Aboutalebi said on Friday that if the JCPOA is a multi-lateral commitment, its violation by one of the signatories cannot be reciprocated by violation and unilaterally.

Aboutalebi made the remarks while reacting to the US Senate approval of a legislation which extends the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) for another ten years.

Commenting on the latest anti-Iran move of the US lawmakers, Aboutalebi wrote on his twitter on Friday that any violation of the landmark nuclear deal would be 'regarded as an act against all engaged' parties.

He emphasized the fact that the most legitimate and severe move against violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) 'is a coordinated and severe response by all those engaged based on their consensus and aiming at isolating the violators.'

The US Senate on December 1st unanimously (99 to 0) voted for extension of the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) for another 10 years. The US House of Representatives had earlier voted for the ISA extension 419 to 1.
