MALAYSIA PLANE: Search ends for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370

The search for the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board, has been suspended, ministers from Australia, Malaysia and China announced Tuesday.

In a statement, transport ministers from the three countries confirmed that the last vessel had left the underwater search area, spanning 120,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean.

"Despite every effort using the best science available, cutting edge technology, as well as modelling and advice from highly skilled professionals, who are the best in their fields, unfortunately, the search has not been able to locate the aircraft," the statement said.

"Accordingly, the underwater search for MH370 has been suspended," added the statement issued by Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai along with his Australian and Chinese counterparts Darren Chester and Li Xiaopeng.

"We again take this opportunity to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives and acknowledge the enormous loss felt by their loved ones. We remain hopeful that new information will come to light and that at some point in the future the aircraft will be located," the statement read.
