Iranian air defenses on Monday shot down an "unidentified target" over the skies of Tehran, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency has reported.
The news agency quoted a local security official as saying the target was "remotely piloted", suggesting it may have been an unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone aircraft.
The security official did not elaborate further.
The Iranian government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the reported shoot-down incident.
