Saudi guards open fire on Iranian boat, kill fisherman

At least one person was killed when Saudi border guards opened fire on an Iranian boat in the Persian Gulf, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported, citing Majid Aqababai, the director general of the ministry's border affairs department.

"Two Iranian boats fishing in the waters of the Persian Gulf were pushed off course by waves. There was shooting by Saudi border guards... and one Iranian fisherman was killed," Aqababai said, adding that Iranian authorities are investigating “if the Iranian boats had crossed the Saudi border or not.”

Riyadh has not commented on the incident.
