"Pour empêcher le convoi de se diriger plus à l'est, nous avons créé un cratère et détruit un petit pont", a affirmé le colonel Ryan Dillon, évoquant une "frappe aérienne", sans préciser la zone géographique où le raid a été mené.
Les combattants de l'EI ont été chassés ce weekend de la frontière libano-syrienne à la suite d'un accord avec le Hezbollah libanais qui leur a permis d'être évacués par bus vers la ville de Boukamal située à Deir Ezzor, dernière province syrienne aux mains jihadistes et frontalière de l'Irak.
"L'EI est une menace mondiale; déplacer des terroristes d'un endroit à un autre (...) n'est pas une solution durable", a affirmé le colonel Dillon.
"La coalition surveille le mouvement du convoi en temps réel. En accord avec les lois régissant les conflits armés, la coalition agira contre l'EI au moment et dans le lieu où elle le pourra", a-t-il ajouté.

The US-led coalition has carried out an air strike to block Islamic State group "fighters" evacuated from Lebanon from reaching eastern Syria, its spokesman told AFP on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteHundreds of IS fighters were evacuated Monday from the border region between Lebanon and Syria under a ceasefire deal and were headed to an IS-held town near Syria's eastern frontier with Iraq.
"Irreconcilable #ISIS terrorists should be killed on the battlefield, not bused across #Syria to the Iraqi border without #Iraq's consent," wrote Brett McGurk, the US presidential envoy to the anti-IS coalition.
"Our @coalition will help ensure that these terrorists can never enter #Iraq or escape from what remains of their dwindling 'caliphate'," he wrote on Twitter.
Coalition spokesman Ryan Dillon confirmed to AFP on Wednesday that a US-led bombing raid had blocked the convoy's route.
"To prevent the convoy from moving further east, we cratered the road and destroyed a small bridge," Dillon said, without providing further details on their location.
"IS is a global threat; relocating terrorists from one place to another for someone else to deal with is not a lasting solution," he said.
