US votes against UN resolution calling for end to Cuba embargo. Israel voted again in line with the US

The 193-member General Assembly adopted the resolution with 191 votes in favor
The United States on Wednesday voted against a United Nations General Assembly resolution calling for an end to the U.S. trade embargo on Cuba, as announced on Tuesday by the U.S. State Department.

The 193-member General Assembly adopted the resolution with 191 votes in favor.

  • Israel voted again in line with the United States, its top ally.

The United States consistently voted against such resolutions for 24 years but abstained for the first time in 2016 under former President Barack Obama, as Washington and Havana forged a closer relationship.
