Syrian Army Closes In on Terrorists near Idlib

Syrian army troops made advances in the battle against remnants of Takfiri groups in the Arab country, closing in on the terrorists in the southeastern suburbs of Idlib.

The Syrian army, backed by Russian air power, recaptured territories from the al-Nusra Front terrorist group in a military campaign in eastern Hama province in a push toward Idlib in northwestern Syria.

A main purpose of the operation is to capture the strategic Abu Dhuhour military airbase, as different units from the Syrian army are pushing from various directions.

According to local sources, the Syrian troops, led by the Tiger Forces and 4th Division, are pushing from both the Hama and Aleppo governorates, as Russian fighter jets and gunships target the positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham terrorists (known as al-Qaeda offshoot in Syria) near Abu Dhuhour airbase.

Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of rebels and civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the government and its foreign military allies have recaptured from terrorists.
