Ωστόσο η Ουάσινγκτον «δείχνει» τις δυνάμεις του Άσαντ ως υπεύθυνες για την επίθεση με χημικά που σημειώθηκε στις 21 Αυγούστου κοντά στην Δαμασκό και κατά την οποία σκοτώθηκαν- σύμφωνα με τις ΗΠΑ- 1429 άνθρωποι, μεταξύ αυτών, εκατοντάδες παιδιά.
Πάντως σημερινό δημοσίευμα της γερμανικής εφημερίδας Bild am Sonntag, που επικαλείται τις γερμανικές υπηρεσίες πληροφοριών, αναφέρει ότι οι συριακές κυβερνητικές δυνάμεις ενδέχεται να έκαναν χρήση χημικών όπλων χωρίς την άδεια του προέδρου 'Ασαντ.
Σύροι στρατιωτικοί διοικητές ζητούν τους τελευταίους τεσσεράμισι μήνες την άδεια να κάνουν χρήση χημικών, σύμφωνα με μηνύματα μέσω ασυρμάτου που εντόπισαν γερμανοί πράκτορες, αλλά ο πρόεδρος πάντα τους το αρνούταν, γράφει η εφημερίδα.
Σύμφωνα με αξιωματούχους των υπηρεσιών πληροφοριών, αυτό μπορεί να σημαίνει ότι ο 'Ασαντ ίσως να μην ενέκρινε ο ίδιος προσωπικά την επίθεση της 21ης Αυγούστου κοντά στη Δαμασκό.
Η Bild σημειώνει ότι τα μηνύματα εντοπίστηκαν από γερμανικό αναγνωριστικό πλοίο, το Oker, το οποίο πλέει κοντά στις συριακές ακτές.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad denied that he was behind a chemical weapons attack on the Syrian people and said evidence was not conclusive that there had been such an attack, CBS reported on Sunday on its news program “Face the Nation.”
“There has been no evidence that I used chemical weapons against my own people,” CBS reported Assad said in an interview conducted in Damascus.
The full interview will air on the CBS network and PBS’s “Charlie Rose” show on Monday. Rose said he met with Assad in Damascus. The CBS “Face the Nation” report was a summary of the interview and did not contain any audio or video of Assad.
Assad spoke as the Obama administration was pressing its case in the United States for congressional authorization of a U.S. strike against Syria in response to the August 21 sarin gas attack that Washington said killed more than 1,400 Syrians, including several hundred children.
The Obama administration has accused Assad’s forces of carrying out the attack. Assad has blamed the rebels.

Qui a ordonné l'attaque chimique meurtrière du 21 août dans les faubourgs de Damas, la capitale syrienne ? Les services de renseignement français et américain ont la certitude qu'elle est l'œuvre du régime syrien. Pour autant, le président syrien Bachar Al-Assad ne l'a vraisemblablement pas approuvée personnellement, indiquent des écoutes de l'armée allemandes, révélées par le journal allemand Bild, dimanche 8 septembre.
De hauts gradés de l'armée syrienne "réclament régulièrement depuis environ quatre mois des attaques chimiques au palais présidentiel à Damas" mais "ces demandes ont été toujours refusées", rapporte également le Bild am Sonntag. L'édition dominicale du quotidien populaire s'appuie sur des écoutes effectuées par un navire espion de l'armée allemande, stationné près des côtes syriennes.
Bachar Al-Assad réfute également être derrière cette opération, assure dimanche un journaliste de CBS qui l'a interviewé à Damas. "Il a nié avoir quelque chose à voir dans cette attaque", a affirmé le journaliste sur la chaîne américaine. "La chose la plus importante qu'il ait dite, c'est 'qu'il n'y a pas de preuve que j'ai utilisé des armes chimiques contre mon peuple'", a ajouté le journaliste américain.

ReplyDeleteEin ausländisches militärisches Eingreifen in Syrien wird die gesamte Region zur Explosion bringen, betont Nabil al-Arabi, Generalsekretär der Arabischen Liga (AL), in einem Interview für die ägyptische Zeitung „Al-Ahram“.
Wie er hervorhob, wäre es falsch, die Resultate der jüngsten AL-Tagung auf der Außenministerebene als Bekundung einer Unterstützung für solches Eingreifen auszulegen.
„Die jüngsten Erklärungen der Arabischen Liga, in der wir vom Uno-Sicherheitsrat gefordert haben, sich einzumischen und adäquate Maßnahmen in Bezug auf Syrien einzuleiten, dürfen nicht als unsere Zustimmung für einen Schlag gegen Syrien zu verstehen“, sagte er.
Der Appell an die Uno sei „keine Demonstration der Machtlosigkeit der Araber“, führte Arabi weiter aus. „Wir leben in einem internationalen System und machen derzeit eine überaus komplizierte Periode durch, die immer komplizierter wird, weil es nicht gelingt, das Syrien-Problem zu regeln, während das Blutvergießen unterdessen andauert, was alle sehen“. Er persönlich sei kategorisch gegen eine militärische Einmischung in die Angelegenheiten Syriens ohne entsprechende Resolution des Uno-Sicherheitsrates, betonte Nabil al-Arabi.
Die Außenminister der AL-Mitgliedsstaaten hatten bei ihrem Treffen am 2. September in Kairo die Uno aufgefordert, Maßnahmen gegen die syrische Regierung einzuleiten, die nach Ansicht der arabischen Länder C-Waffen gegen Zivilisten eingesetzt hatte. Viele legten diese Erklärung als eine Unterstützung der Arabischen Liga für die US-Pläne, sich mit militärischen Mitteln in den Syrien-Konflikt einzumischen.

Kerry made the remark in response to a question as he began a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks on July 29, according to a US reporter who attended a photo session on behalf of other journalists traveling with Kerry.
