Durante la tradicional oración del Ángelus, y haciendo referencia a la intervención militar que quiere perpetrar el Gobierno estadounidense contra Siria, el máximo representante de la Iglesia católica reiteró su oposición a la guerra en el país árabe.
En este sentido, Francisco también rechazó la "proliferación de armamentos", instando a los dirigentes políticos a "encontrar una solución justa al conflicto fratricida".
"Hay que combatir el mal, esto implica, entre otras cosas, decir no al odio fratricida y a las mentiras de las que se sirve, a la violencia en todas sus formas, a la proliferación de armas y su comercio ilegal. Éstos son los enemigos que hay que combatir unidos y con coherencia, no siguiendo intereses, que no sean los de la paz y el bien común", declaró.
El Papa, que ayer encabezó una jornada mundial de ayuno y oración por la paz en Siria, invitó a todos los creyentes a "que sigan rezando para que cese inmediatamente la violencia y la devastación en Siria", al mismo tiempo que "se trabaje con un renovado compromiso por una solución justa al conflicto".
"La guerra es siempre un fracaso"
Este sábado, durante la jornada mundial en solidaridad con Siria, el papa Francisco reiteró su llamado a "trabajar por la paz y la reconciliación" y a poner fin a la guerra.
El religioso aseguró que desde su perspectiva la guerra es "siempre una derrota de la humanidad" y criticó que en el mundo "continuamos sembrando destrucción, dolor y muerte".
"La violencia, la guerra llevan sólo a la muerte", añadió.
En el evento, que fue respaldado por millones de personas, organizaciones e instituciones de todo el mundo, el papa instó a "aquellos que son llamados a gobernar las naciones" a elegir el camino de la paz, reiterando que si se llega a concretar el ataque que EE.UU. y Francia planean contra Siria, se agravarán aún más las masacres en el país.

Il Papa ha preso le mosse dalla parabola sul re che va alla guerra che «ci tocca sul vivo, in questo momento in cui stiamo fortemente pregando per la pace».
«A che serve fare guerre, tante guerre, se non sei capace di fare questa guerra profonda contro il male?». Si è chiesto il Papa, integrando a braccio l'Angelus. «Sempre rimane il dubbio, - ha detto, - se questa guerra di qua o di là è davvero una guerra o è una guerra commerciale per vendere queste armi, o è per incrementarne il commercio illegale?».
Preghiamo «perché cessi subito la violenza e la devastazione in Siria e si lavori con rinnovato impegno per una giusta soluzione del conflitto fratricida» ha detto il Papa affermando che dopo la veglia per la pace di ieri, «l'impegno continui».
«Preghiamo anche - ha detto il Papa - per gli altri Paesi del Medio Oriente, particolarmente per il Libano, perchè trovi la desiderata stabilità e continui ad essere modello di convivenza; per l'Iraq, perchè la violenza settaria lasci il passo alla riconciliazione; per il processo di pace tra Israeliani e Palestinesi: progredisca con decisione e coraggio. E preghiamo per l'Egitto, affinchè tutti gli Egiziani, musulmani e cristiani, si impegnino a costruire insieme la società per il bene dell'intera popolazione».

ROME — Pope Francis today (Sept 8) called for an end to the illegal traffic in arms, and repeated his appeal for peace in Syria.
“The war against evil means saying no a fratricidal hatred and the lies which feed it, saying no to violence in all its forms, saying no to the proliferation of arms and the illegal trade in arms,” he said in his regular Sunday Angelus.
“There is a commercial war to sell these weapons in illegal trade. These are enemies to be fought — together and united, following no other interests than those of peace and the common good.”
The call came hours after Pope Francis addressed an estimated 100,000 people in St Peter’s Square in a day of fasting and prayer aimed at encouraging peace in Syria.
“The violence and devastation in Syria should stop immediately and we should work with renewed commitment for a just solution to this fratricidal conflict,” he said today, calling for peace in Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon as well.
The appeals for peace come as the United States and France consider military action to punish Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad over a chemical weapons attack near Damascus that killed hundreds of people. Western countries blame Mr Assad for the attack although the Syrian government denies responsibility. REUTERS

ReplyDeleteSelling weapons abroad is a top priority for the government, Philip Hammond, the UK defence secretary, made clear on Tuesday, praising what he called a "fabulous show" displaying "fantastic kit".
It was the opening day of London Docklands' biennial arms bazaar, the biggest so far with 40 countries, including Russia and Israel, having their own national pavilions, and as many as 1,500 companies offering their wares.
Official guests at the arms show include the governments of Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya – countries that need to build up their armed forces after recent conflicts in which Britain has played its part – as well as such traditional arms trade allies as Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Qatar and Algeria, two potentially lucrative markets and relatively new allies in the fight against jihadist extremism, have also been invited as official guests.
Hammond said that later this week he would chair a new "cross-Whitehall" committee on weapons exports. "We are not ashamed of promoting responsible defence exports," he added.
In a speech to an audience consisting largely of arms company executives, he seized the opportunity to bash the European commission in Brussels for proposing a common EU approach to weapons sales, a move he said he believed would stifle competition.
He praised arms companies for building clusters around universities. Their future lay in high-tech, heavily academic-linked, industrial technology, not in "high-volume metal bashing", he said.
Compared with previous years many more of the exhibitors in the huge ExCel centre are smaller, niche, high-tech companies. Yet in terms of floor space they are still dwarfed by such giants as Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics and Raytheon (maker of Tomahawk cruise missiles, which would have been launched against Syrian targets had not politics intervened).
Another exhibitor with a strong presence is Elbit, the Israeli specialist in unmanned aerial vehicles or drones, and a joint venture partner, with Thales, in the Watchkeeper unmanned air system being developed for British forces.
A guide to unmanned vehicles, made available on Monday, had more than 300 pages with illustrations of about 1,000 different types of drone.
This year a security and special forces zone has been set up at ExCel, consisting mainly of companies offering kit for the fast-developing private security market, an outlet growing as fast as that for drones. Kit for sale includes a necktie with a hidden camera as well as equipment designed to protect communications from cyber-attacks.

ReplyDeleteDie USA haben mit den Waffenlieferungen an die Regimegegner in Syrien begonnen, meldet Reuters am Mittwoch unter Berufung auf eine Erklärung des Sprechers der Nationalen Koalition der syrischen Oppositions- und Revolutionskräfte, Khalid Saleh.
„Die USA liefern (…) gewisse letale Waffen an die Oppositionellen in Syrien“, so der Sprecher auf einer Pressekonferenz in Washington.
Seinen Worten nach sind die US-Behörden sicher, dass der Oberste Militärrat der syrischen Opposition nicht zulässt, dass die Waffen „in schlechte Hände“ gelangen.
Eine Quelle in der US-Regierung hatte zuvor der Agentur berichtet, dass die Opposition heute höchstwahrscheinlich über keine US-Waffen verfüge. US-Außenminister John Kerry wies am Dienstag bei einer Internet-Konferenz darauf hin, dass das Tempo der Hilfslieferungen an die syrischen Oppositionellen steige, aber präzisierte nicht, ob auch Waffen aus den Vereinigten Staaten nach Syrien gelangen.
Im Juli hatte der US-Kongress die Beschränkungen für die amerikanischen Waffenlieferungen an die syrische Opposition aufgehoben.
Amerikanischen Medienberichten zufolge haben die USA geplant, nur leichte Schützenwaffen und die Munition dazu an die syrische Opposition zu liefern.

Der Rechnungshof kritisiert den Einbau unausgereifter Systeme, warnt vor massiven Mehrkosten und Verzögerungen. Der Bericht bestärkt Kritiker: Sie halten die schwimmenden Festungen für Relikte der Vergangenheit.
Flugzeugträger sind für die USA nicht nur ein Waffensystem unter vielen - sie sind Symbol und auch Werkzeug ihrer globalen Machtausübung. Doch Amerika bekommt auch auf diesem Gebiet zunehmend Konkurrenz: China hat seinen ersten Flugzeugträger in Dienst gestellt und plant den Bau modernerer Exemplare. Im August hat Indien seinen ersten in Eigenregie gebauten Flugzeugträger vom Stapel gelassen, nur wenige Tage später folgte Japan mit einem Hubschrauberträger.
Die USA wollen ihre technologische Führungsrolle mit den neuen Flugzeugträgern der "Gerald R. Ford"-Klasse verteidigen. Sie sollen zwar nicht größer ausfallen als die aktuelle "Nimitz"-Klasse, der Rumpf wird weitgehend baugleich sein. Doch damit enden die Gemeinsamkeiten auch schon: Die drei geplanten Flugzeugträger - die derzeit im Bau befindliche "Gerald R. Ford", die "John F. Kennedy" und die "Enterprise" - sollen ihre Vorgänger in jeder Hinsicht übertreffen, insbesondere was die Integration neuer Technologien betrifft.
Doch das gestaltet sich offenbar schwieriger als erwartet. Der US-Rechnungshof GAO hat jetzt scharfe Kritik an dem Programm geübt. Die Marine habe lediglich "gemischten Erfolg" bei der Entwicklung zentraler Technologien. Um Termine einzuhalten, habe sie Systeme in die "Gerald R. Ford" eingebaut, die noch gar nicht ausreichend getestet worden seien. Das berge die Gefahr kostenträchtiger Korrekturen. Auch an vielen anderen Stellen hinke die Navy dem Zeitplan hinterher, schreibt das GAO in seinem Bericht.
Mehrkosten in Milliardenhöhe
Schon jetzt liege der geschätzte Preis für die "Gerald R. Ford" bei 12,8 Milliarden Dollar - 22 Prozent mehr als ursprünglich vorgesehen. Und der Rechnungshof fürchtet weitere Kostensteigerungen. Konkret nennt er den schwierigen Einbau des neuartigen elektromagnetischen Flugzeugkatapults, das die bisherigen dampfgetriebenen Modelle ersetzen soll, sowie die Integration des Kampfjets F-35, dessen Entwicklung ebenfalls Pannen in Serie produziert hat. Dass die "Gerald R. Red Cross urges US and Russia to help unblock aid delivery in Syria...
ReplyDeleteGENEVA- The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on the United States and Russia to also address the obstacles to delivering aid in Syria at talks on Thursday focusing on the use of chemical weapons.
Syrian government forces and opposition rebels are both preventing medical assistance in particular from reaching the sick and wounded, ICRC President Peter Maurer said on Wednesday.
"We need political and diplomatic support for independent humanitarian action," Maurer told reporters in Geneva a day before US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov meet in the Swiss city.

Avión humanitario del ALBA arriba a Grecia y continuará hacia Líbano...
DeleteEl avión de la Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América (ALBA), provisto con más de seis toneladas de ayuda humanitaria, entre alimentos no perecederos, medicina y sábanas, llegó este sábado a Grecia, en su penúltima parada para llegar al Líbano.
La enviada especial de teleSUR, Madelein García, informó a través de su cuenta en la red social Twitter (@madeleintlSUR), alrededor de las 17H14 locales (14H14 GMT), que ya se encontraban en el país europeo.
“Buenos días! Acabamos de llegar a Grecia, nuestro penúltimo destino antes de llevar la ayuda humanitaria a Líbano #AlbaPorSiria”, difundió.
La periodista agregó que “Ya hemos cumplido 23 horas de recorrido, solo nos faltan 3 horas de vuelo para llegar a Líbano y entregar la ayuda humanitaria #AlbaPorSiria”.
Se espera que el avión con la carga humanitaria llegue a su destino este lunes al mediodía, hora de Líbano. A través de las redes sociales, la periodista se ha mentenido muy activa y ha informado sobre los miembros de la tripulación.
El lunes 9 de septiembre, el presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, señaló que "mientras Estados Unidos envía un avión con bombas, nosotros enviamos (a Siria) un avión con frazadas, medicinas, alimentos y paz".
La aeronave despegó el 11 de septiemvbre desde Caracas, como una expresión de voluntad de paz con el país árabe.

Report: CIA begins arms transfer to Syrian rebel groups...
ReplyDeleteThe CIA has started to deliver arms to Syrian rebels, after long months during which such aid was promise, according to a report by the Washington Post.
The report said that both Syrian and US officials confirmed that the arms transfer had begun, though no one was quoted as saying so.
According to the report, only light weapons and munitions are being transferred at the moment, as the US avoids increased participation in Syria's bloody civil war.
Other equipment is being provided for the rebels, including vehicles, communication equipment and medical kits.

Αν η Μέση Ανατολή δεν είχε πετρέλαιο και το Ισραήλ δεν βρισκόταν στη θέση που είναι, κανένας αμερικανικός πύραυλος δεν θα έπεφτε σε Ιράκ, Αφγανιστάν, Λιβύη και Συρία, ούτε και θα υπήρχε παρουσία ξένων στρατευμάτων. Καμία μεγάλη δύναμη δεν θα ενδιαφερόταν για τους αιμοσταγείς δικτάτορες του αραβικού κόσμου, ούτε θα ασχολείτο κανείς με τους μουλάδες, τους σιίτες και τους σουνίτες.
Αν, για παράδειγμα, η Συρία ήταν ένα αφρικανικό κράτος, οι υπερευαισθησίες που επιδεικνύονται για τα νεκρά γυναικόπαιδα από τα χημικά όπλα που πούλησαν οι Βρετανοί στο συριακό καθεστώς θα περιορίζονταν σε ανούσια ψηφίσματα, ενώ ελάχιστοι θα ασχολούνταν με το θέμα στις πρωτεύουσες των πέντε μονίμων μελών του Συμβουλίου Ασφαλείας. Άλλωστε, ολόκληρες γενοκτονίες συνέβησαν και η αντίδραση ήταν σχεδόν ανύπαρκτη.
Το διεθνές δίκαιο είναι επιλεκτικό και τα κάθε λογής πολιτικά και οικονομικά συμφέροντα εξουδετερώνουν τη δυνατότητα για ειλικρινή διάλογο. Ούτε και τους επιθεωρητές των Ηνωμένων Εθνών υπολογίζουν, γιατί απλούστατα αν επένδυαν στο ρόλο του οργανισμού θα περίμεναν, τουλάχιστον, να ολοκληρωθούν οι έρευνές τους. Όσοι αποδεδειγμένα χρησιμοποίησαν χημικά όπλα πρέπει να συλληφθούν και να οδηγηθούν στη Δικαιοσύνη. Και εάν πράγματι επιβεβαιωθεί ότι ο Άσαντ ευθύνεται για το έγκλημα, θα πρέπει να πάει ο Πούτιν να τον συλλάβει που τον στηρίζει πολιτικά και στρατιωτικά και όχι ο Ομπάμα.
Καμία όμως στρατιωτική επιχείρηση, όπως αυτή που ετοιμάζεται, δεν θα τιμωρήσει στο τέλος της ημέρας τον Άσαντ. Αντίθετα, το κόστος θα το πληρώσουν και πάλι οι αθώοι και η χώρα τους. Η περίπτωση του Ιράκ αποτελεί το πιο τρανό παράδειγμα. Αν αλλάξουμε τα ονόματα και τις ημερομηνίες, η όλη επιχειρηματολογία για να αιτιολογηθεί σήμερα η επικείμενη ανάληψη στρατιωτικής δράσης κατά της Συρίας, μας θυμίζει τα όσα ισχυρίζονταν ο Μπους και ο Τσέινι για να πραγματοποιήσουν την επιχείρηση «Σοκ και Δέος» στο Ιράκ.
Αν ο Ομπάμα δεν καταφέρει να απεγκλωβιστεί από τη φιλοσοφία της βίας που κάποιοι τον οδήγησαν σκόπιμα, δυστυχώς θα γκρεμίσει την εικόνα του και μαζί το όνειρο του Μάρτιν Λούθερ Κινγκ για έναν «πολιτισμό της ειρήνης».

ReplyDeleteΟι ανάγκες των οικογενειών των Σύρων που έχουν πληγεί από τον εμφύλιο πόλεμο ανέρχονται σε 1,05 δισεκατομμύριο ευρώ, όπως ανακοίνωσε ένας σύρος αξιωματούχος, διευκρινίζοντας ότι μόνο το 43% των αναγκών αυτών καλύπτονται.
«Η ανθρωπιστική βοήθεια διανέμεται σύμφωνα με τα διαθέσιμα μέσα, με ένα έλλειμμα που αγγίζει το 57%», δήλωσε ο Όμαρ Γαλουάντζι, υπουργός Τοπικής Αυτοδιοίκησης, σύμφωνα με τον συριακό Τύπο.
Ο Γαλουάντζι ανακοίνωσε τους αριθμούς αυτούς στη διάρκεια συνάντησής του με τον νέο συντονιστή του Γραφείου Ανθρωπιστικής Βοήθειας του ΟΗΕ (Ocha) Γιαακούμπ αλ Χέλου.
Με την ευκαιρία αυτή, ο σύρος αξιωματούχος ευχαρίστησε τον ΟΗΕ για την βοήθεια που προσφέρει στους σύρους πολίτες «στις δύσκολες ώρες που περνά η χώρα».
Το Ocha ανακοίνωσε χθες Τετάρτη ότι περισσότεροι από 600.000 άνθρωποι στη Συρία έχουν ανάγκη άμεσης ανθρωπιστικής βοήθειας.
Σημαντικός αριθμός αυτών βρίσκονται σε περιοχές όπου είναι δύσκολη η πρόσβαση, μεταξύ αυτών και η περιοχή όπου καταγγέλλεται ότι πραγματοποιήθηκε η επίθεση με χημικά όπλα στις 21 Αυγούστου, και οι οποίες βρίσκονται σε κατάσταση πολιορκίας επί πολλούς μήνες, όπως πρόσθεσε το Ocha.
Η Unicef από την πλευρά της διευκρίνισε ότι δεν έχει καταφέρει να έχει πρόσβαση στις περιοχές όπου φέρεται να πραγματοποιήθηκαν επιθέσεις με χημικά όπλα, ούτε στα θύματα αυτών των επιθέσεων παρά τις επανειλημμένες προσπάθειές της.
Εξαιτίας του εμφυλίου στη Συρία, τα δυόμισι τελευταία χρόνια περισσότεροι από 4 εκατομμύρια άνθρωποι έχουν εκτοπιστεί και 2 εκατομμύρια έχουν αναγκαστεί να φύγουν από τη χώρα, σύμφωνα με τον ΟΗΕ.

Putin Urges Russian Weaponry Makers to Keep Up With Demands...
ReplyDeleteIZHEVSK, September 18 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin urged his country’s arms manufacturers on Wednesday to produce weapons that are superior to those of possible adversaries.
“Our past successes are no reason to sit back and relax,” he said during a visit to the Kalashnikov gun maker. “We must constantly strive to stay on top of current demands.”
He added that many of Russia’s legendary weapons were “no longer able to make the grade.”
He urged the Defense Ministry and weapons makers to redouble their efforts to develop new models of arms and military equipment, especially precision weaponry and fire-control systems.
Putin’s remarks came soon after a senior Defense Ministry official said Russia’s defense industry technology was largely outdated, lagging decades behind competitors.
Lt. Gen. Alexander Shevchenko said earlier in September that many defense firms were still not ready for mass production of high-tech weapons systems and many military technologies were still at 1980s levels.
There has been a disturbing decline in the quality of weapon production, he said, adding that this was mainly due to obsolete equipment and an extremely low pace of modernization.
The Russian government has reportedly allocated 20 trillion rubles ($640 billion) for the comprehensive rearmament of the country’s Armed Forces. The measure is expected to make the share of modern weaponry rise to 30 percent by 2015, and exceed 70 percent by 2020.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said Tuesday that Russia would spend $650 billion for the rearmament and modernization of its armed forces through 2020.

Hollande pour une «livraison contrôlée» d'armes aux rebelles syriens...

Le président de la République François Hollande a profité de la fête d’investiture du président malien jeudi pour livrer, en pleine crise syrienne, ce qu’il a appelé «le message de Bamako» citant l’intervention franco-africaine au Mali comme un exemple réussi de mobilisation internationale anti-terroriste. Qui plus est, François Hollande s'est dit prêt à une «livraison contrôlée» d'armes aux rebelles syriens.
François Hollande n’a pas cité dans son discours le conflit syrien mais l’allusion était on ne peut plus claire alors qu’après l’attaque chimique du 21 août, la communauté internationale peine à se mettre d’accord sur une résolution contraignant la Syrie à placer sous contrôle son arsenal chimique et à l’éliminer.
«Quand il y a des peuples qui se font écraser, on est fondés à venir en soutien, en solidarité», a dit un peu plus tard son entourage à des journalistes à propos du Mali, en soulignant que l’intervention Serval avait eu lieu dans le respect des règles internationales. «En Syrie, c’est par rapport à une violation démontrée du droit international», a-t-on poursuivi. «S’il n’y a pas d’issue politique, il faut renforcer la coalition nationale syrienne». En tout état de cause, «on doit à chaque fois dire que la France est au service du droit international».
Le président de la République a également affirmé lors d’une conférence de presse que la France livrerait des armes à l’armée de libération de la Syrie (ASL) mais «dans un cadre contrôlé». «Les Russes livrent régulièrement (des armes au régime), mais nous, nous le ferons dans un cadre élargi, avec un ensemble de pays et dans un cadre qui peut être contrôlé car nous ne pouvons pas accepter que des armes puissent aller vers des jihadistes» et non à «l’ASL», a-t-il dit.....http://www.liberation.fr/monde/2013/09/20/hollande-pret-a-une-livraison-controlee-d-armes-aux-rebelles-syriens_933337?xtor=rss-450

DeleteEn déplacement au Mali, jeudi, le président français a annoncé l'envoi d'équipements à l'Armée syrienne libre «dans un cadre contrôlé».
Alors que la communauté internationale s'engage dans un long processus de démantèlement de l'arsenal chimique de la Syrie, la guerre qui y fait rage depuis deux ans risque de s'éterniser. Jeudi, lors d'un déplacement à Bamako, au Mali, François Hollande a annoncé que la France allait livrer des armes à l’Armée syrienne libre (ASL) «dans un cadre contrôlé». Une façon de rebondir et de maintenir la pression sur Damas après la suspension sine die de possibles frappes contre le régime de Bachar al-Assad. Mais aussi un pari risqué. «Je constate que les Russes livrent des armes régulièrement, mais nous, nous le ferons dans un cadre élargi avec un ensemble de pays et dans un cadre qui peut être contrôlé, car nous ne pouvons accepter que les armes puissent aller vers des jidadistes que nous avons combattus ici», a expliqué le président français.
«Des interlocuteurs de confiance»
Jusqu’ici, Paris a livré du matériel non-létal à l’ASL (transmission, équipements de vision nocturne, etc.). Cette fois, Paris envisage de passer à la vitesse supérieure. «Il n’y a pas de solution militaire au conflit en Syrie, affirme Romain Nadal, porte-parole diplomatique de l’Elysée. Mais pour parvenir à une solution politique, il faut un rééquilibrage des forces sur le terrain. Tant que Bachar al-Assad pensera pouvoir vaincre militairement, il ne s’engagera pas dans la négociation.» Paris ne dit mot sur la nature des équipements qui pourraient être fournis à l’ASL, mais affirme prendre «toutes les garanties nécessaires» pour éviter qu’ils n’atterrissent dans de mauvaises mains. «Nous avons identifié des interlocuteurs de confiance et une chaîne de commandement solide», assure une source diplomatique.
Sera-ce suffisant ? Président de la sous-commision Sécurité et défense au Parlement européen, Arnaud Danjean ne cache pas son scepticisme: «De telles livraisons seront totalement incontrôlables». Ajoutant : «Celles qui le seront ne concerneront que des unités excentrées, donc pas décisives.» Cet ancien de la DGSE, qui a servi en Bosnie et au Kosovo dans les années 1990, était déjà opposé à la levée de l'embargo sur les armes à destination du gouvernement bosniaque ou des rebelles albanophones de l'UCK à l'époque du conflit dans l'ex-Yougoslavie. «En revanche, j'étais favorable à des frappes parce qu'il y avait un vrai front militaire, que les Serbes n'étaient pas aussi forts qu'on le disait et que le risque d'embrasement régional n'existait pas. Autant de conditions qui ne sont pas réunies en Syrie.» Et le député européen de conclure: «Le principal problème reste la fragmentation absolue des groupes rebelles.»
Selon une étude récente de l'institut britannique IHC Jane's, rendue publique par le Daily Telegraph, la moitié des combattants rebelles en Syrie appartiendraient désormais au camp islamiste et/ou jihadiste. Dès lors, comment être sûr qu'ils ne récupèrent pas les armes livrées par la France et ses alliés ? C'est ce risque que Washington n'a pas voulu, jusqu'ici, courir. Armes russes livrées à l'Irak en vertu d'un contrat de 2012...
ReplyDeleteL'exécution d'un contrat prévoyant des livraisons d'armes russes à l'Irak a commencé, a annoncé Ali al-Moussaoui, conseiller du premier ministre irakien, précisant que Moscou et Bagdad avaient signé ce contrat en 2012.
"Il y a eu en effet des doutes concernant ce document. Cependant, avant sa mise à exécution, le président Vladimir Poutine et le premier ministre irakien Nouri al-Maliki ont convenu de le réviser afin de prévenir toute irrégularité. Voici pourquoi la transaction a finalement été bouclée. Sa réalisation est en cours", a déclaré M. al-Moussaoui dans une interview à la chaîne de télévision russe Russia Today (RT).
Evoquant les clauses du contrat, le conseiller du premier ministre a souligné que le document portait principalement sur les armes destinées à la lutte contre les terroristes.
D'un montant de 4,3 milliards de dollars, le contrat russo-irakien prévoit, entre autres, la livraison de plus de 10 hélicoptères Mi-28NE Night Hunter dotés de tous les armements conçus pour ce type d'appareils.
Une source proche des milieux de la coopération technico-militaire a fait savoir à RIA Novosti qu'un groupe de pilotes irakiens avait achevé en août 2013 ses entraînements sur des hélicoptères de la famille Mi

US nuclear weapon plans to cost $355b. over a decade, report finds ...
ReplyDeleteWASHINGTON - The Obama administration's plans for the US nuclear weapons complex, including modernization of bombs, delivery systems and laboratories, will cost the country about $355 billion over the next decade, the Congressional Budget Office said on Friday.
That is nearly $150 billion more than administration's $208.5 billion estimate in a report to Congress last year, an analyst at an arms control group said, and since the modernization effort is just beginning, costs are expected to greatly increase after 2023.
The budget office said President Barack Obama had requested $23.1 billion for US nuclear forces in the 2014 fiscal year, including $18 billion to maintain the weapons and supporting laboratories as well as the submarines, bombers and missiles to deliver the weapons.
In the decade to 2013, the administration's plans to modernize and maintain submarines, bombers and missiles will cost about $136 billion, the CBO said in a 25-page report.
Weapons labs, weapons and naval reactors will cost $105 billion, and the United States will spend another $56 billion on command and control systems. Adding expected cost growth of $59 billion raises the total to $355 billion over a decade.
The estimates come as the United States is at the start of what Air Force General Robert Kehler, the head of US Strategic Command, has called a "multi-decade effort to recapitalize our nuclear deterrent force and its supporting infrastructure."

Pope’s Christmas prayer urges Syria peace...
ReplyDeletePope Francis called for humanitarian aid access in Syria and “social harmony” in South Sudan on his first Christmas in the Vatican after a year shaking up the papacy with his humble style and common touch.
Francis also pleaded for divine aid to rescue child soldiers “robbed of their childhood” and for peace in the conflict-torn Central African Republic which he said was “often forgotten and overlooked.”
Francis spoke from the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica Wednesday to tens of thousands of tourists, pilgrims and Romans in the square below. He said he was joining in the song of Christmas angels with all those hoping “for a better world,” and with those who “care for others, humbly.”
Christmas this year comes as conflicts have stricken Christians across the region, from the historic Syrian town of Maaloula where residents still speak Jesus’s ancient Aramaic, to the ongoing Middle East conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
In a Christmas Day sermon in Britain, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby condemned the treatment of Christian communities in the Middle East who are being “attacked and massacred” and the ongoing suffering in South Sudan.

Bashar Asad agradece al Papa sus 'rezos' por Siria....
ReplyDeleteUna delegación del Gobierno de Siria ha visitado esta mañana el Vaticano para hacerle llegar al Papa Francisco un mensaje del presidente sirio Bashar Asad. La noticia la ha confirmado el portavoz del vaticano, padre Federico Lombardi.
En el mensaje, Bashar Asad, agradece al pontífice su "postura clara contra las agresiones a Siria" y su llamamiento para rezar por este país, según informa la agencia de noticias oficial siria, Sana, que difundió el contenido.
El mandatario subrayó que la crisis en Siria será resuelta a través de un diálogo nacional entre los sirios, sin injerencias extranjeras.
Hizo hincapié también en que el pueblo "es el único dueño del derecho constitucional para decidir el futuro y a los dirigentes de su país a través de las urnas". Insistió en la disposición de su Ejecutivo a participar en la conferencia de paz de Ginebra, prevista para el 22 de enero, y señaló que la lucha contra los terroristas, que tienen como blanco a los ciudadanos, es un factor decisivo para que cualquier solución pacífica tenga éxito.
Reiteró que para triunfar en esa lucha es necesario que los países que respaldan el terrorismo, financiándolo o proporcionando apoyo logístico y entrenamiento, dejen de hacerlo. Sin nombrarlos, Al Asad apuntó que algunos de esos estados son vecinos de Siria y están en Oriente Medio y otras partes del mundo.

ReplyDeleteGegen das Wegschauen, für mehr Nächstenliebe: Der Papst hat in der Silvestervesper dazu aufgerufen, Menschen zu helfen, die in Schwierigkeiten stecken. Der Vorsitzende der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz Zollitsch bezeichnete Franziskus als "ein Geschenk Gottes an die Kirche".
Rom - Papst Franziskus hat zum Ende des Jahres 2013 zu mehr Menschlichkeit und Nächstenliebe aufgerufen. "Wir sollten uns mutig fragen: Wie haben wir die Zeit verbracht, die Gott uns geschenkt hat? Haben wir sie vor allem für uns selbst verwendet oder haben wir es geschafft, sie auch für die anderen einzusetzen", sagte der Papst bei der Vesper zum Silvestertag im Petersdom in Rom. Stop the Wars, Pope Says in New Year Appeal...
ReplyDeleteVATICAN CITY — Pope Francis delivered an impassioned New Year's peace address on Wednesday, saying the heart of humanity seemed to have gone astray and too many people were still indifferent to war, violence and injustice.
The pontiff, who took his papal name from St Francis of Assisi, the saint most associated with peace, urged the world to listen to the “cry for peace” from suffering peoples.
”What on Earth is happening in the hearts of men? What on Earth is happening in the heart of humanity?” he said to tens of thousands of people in St. Peter's Square on the day the Roman Catholic Church celebrates its World Day of Peace.
"Time to stop"
”It's time to stop!” he said, departing from his prepared text.
Francis was speaking from the window of the Apostolic Palace overlooking St. Peter's Square that popes traditionally use for their addresses.
Unlike his predecessors, Francis has not used the spacious apartment behind the window since his election in March, shunning pomp and preferring instead to live in small quarters in a Vatican guest house.
”Everyone must be committed to building a society that is truly just and caring,” he told the crowd on Wednesday, acknowledging the many peace banners and blue balloons held aloft.
