Επιφυλακτικοί ήταν αρκετοί γερουσιαστές, αλλά για διαδικαστικούς λόγους η ψηφοφορία θα γίνει στις αρχές Δεκεμβρίου, οπότε σε πρακτικό επίπεδο ο κ. Ομπάμα ζητάει μέχρι τότε εκδήλωση προθέσεων.
Οι νέες συνομιλίες διεξάγονται την Τετάρτη στη Γενεύη μεταξύ του Ιράν και της ομάδας "5+1" (ΗΠΑ, Κίνα, Ρωσία, Βρετανία, Γαλλία και Γερμανία). Υπάρχει πάντως διαφορά εκτιμήσεων μεταξύ των γερουσιαστών, καθώς οι πιο δύσπιστοι για τις προθέσεις του Ιράν, εξέφρασαν την εκτίμηση, ότι οι προηγούμενες κυρώσεις, ήταν ο καταλύτης για να εμφανιστεί το Ιράν με μεγαλύτερη διάθεση διαπραγματεύσεων.
- Ο προηγούμενος γύρος των διαπραγματεύσεων έκλεισε στις 9 Νοεμβρίου στη Γενεύη, χωρίς να επιτευχθεί κάποια συμφωνία.

ReplyDeleteU.S. President Barack Obama, during a meeting with senators on Tuesday, called on the Congress not to impose new sanctions against Iran, while negotiations are going on.
This was reported by press secretary of the White House spokesman, Jay Carney. According to Obama, new sanctions should not be introduced when the current negotiations are being conducted, but they will be most effective if Iran does not accept the proposal of the “six” of international mediators or if Tehran does not fulfill its obligations. After a possible agreement on Iran's nuclear program, it will possible to “turn round” in the first six months, according to the White House.
Without undertaking this initial step, according to Obama, Iran will continue with uranium enrichment, move ahead with its program of plutonium enrichment and build “advanced” centrifuges. “Six” of the international mediators (Russia, USA, China, France, Britain and Germany) have agreed on the 20th of November as the date for the next round of talks with Iran in Geneva. Tehran must convince the international community of the peaceful nature of its nuclear program in exchange for the easing of sanctions.

ReplyDeleteMOSCOW, November 20 (RIA Novosti) – The United States has no plans to lift most of the existing sanctions against Iran, a US official said Tuesday ahead of a new round of talks on Iranian nuclear program.
“The oil sanctions, the financial sanctions that have been so effective in straining the Iranian economy would all remain in place,” National Security Adviser Susan Rice said on CNN.
She dismissed earlier media reports about a possible unfreezing of Iranian assets worth $40 billion to $50 billion.
“We’re talking about a modest amount of money, a fraction of the number that you’ve heard out there,” Rice said. She declined to elaborate, citing the ongoing negotiations.
A new round of talks about Iran’s nuclear program kicks off Wednesday in Geneva between Tehran and the “5+1” group of international negotiators comprising the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany.
Iran made a new bid this year to resolve the lengthy impasse over its nuclear program, which the Western powers claim may be intended to produce nuclear weapons. Iran says it needs the program to provide energy and fuel medical reactors.
Iran and the 5+1 spoke of a possible breakthrough deal during the previous round of talks in Geneva earlier this month, but an agreement failed to materialize.

La position de l'Iran sur la France et Israël "complique la négociation" (Paris)...
ReplyDeleteLa position du guide suprême iranien, l'ayatollah Ali Khamenei, sur la France et Israël complique la négociation sur le programme nucléaire de l'Iran, rapportent mercredi les médias français, se référant à la porte-parole du gouvernement français, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem.
"Les propos de Khamenei sont inacceptables et compliquent la négociation", a déclaré lors de son point de presse hebdomadaire Mme Vallaud-Belkacem, ajoutant que la position de Paris dans cette négociation était "ferme mais pas fermée".
L'ayatollah a désigné la France comme le responsable numéro un de l'échec des pourparlers de Genève sur le nucléaire iranien entre Téhéran et les Six (Etats-Unis, Chine, Russie, Grande-Bretagne, France et Allemagne), le 10 novembre dernier.
Tout comme Israël, la France a jugé prématuré de signer à ce stade un accord avec l'Iran.
Selon le guide suprême, la France a montré ainsi qu'elle était prête à céder à la pression non seulement des Etats-Unis, mais aussi d'Israël. Quant à l'Etat hébreu, il est "voué à la disparition", d'après l'ayatollah Khamenei qui refuse tout recul sur les "droits nucléaires" de Téhéran et sur les "lignes rouges".
Des discussions bilatérales se sont poursuivies toute la matinée avec une rencontre entre les diplomates en chef de l'Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif et de l'Union Européenne, Catherine Ashton, qui préside les négociations. Une discussion plénière entre l'Iran et les Six (est programmée en début d'après-midi. Les Six et l'Iran tentent une fois encore de finaliser un premier accord d'étape sur le programme nucléaire iranien, soupçonné par les Occidentaux et Israël de cacher un volet militaire, malgré les démentis de Téhéran.
