"Nous avons démontré que nous sommes capables de construire de tels navires. Mais il faut une décision politique. Pour le moment, nous n'avons pas besoin d'un navire de cette classe", a indiqué le vice-premier ministre au terme de la remise du porte-avions modernisé INS Vikramaditya (ex-croiseur porte-avions soviétique Admiral Gorchkov) à l'Inde.
"La présence de porte-avions au sein de la Marine ne s'explique pas par des raisons militaires, mais par des raisons géopolitiques", a-t-il expliqué.
Selon lui, si la Russie décide de se doter de nouveaux porte-avions, ses chantiers navals seront capables de construire des navires du même tonnage que celui du Vikramaditya, voire plus. Plusieurs projets de conception de porte-avions ont déjà été soumis au gouvernement du pays, d'après M.Rogozine.
- A l'heure actuelle, la Marine russe est dotée d'un seul croiseur porte-avions, l'Admiral Kouznetsov, construit à l'époque de l'URSS.

La Russie remet à l'Inde le porte-avions Vikramaditya...
ReplyDeleteLa Russie a remis samedi à l'Inde le porte-avions modernisé INS Vikramaditya (ex-croiseur lourd soviétique Admiral Gorchkov) lors d'une cérémonie organisée aux chantiers navals russes Sevmach de Severodvinsk (nord).
Le directeur général adjoint de l'Agence russe d'exportation d'armements (Rosoboronexport) Igor Sevastianov et le commandant du porte-avions INS Vikramaditya Suraj Berry ont signé l'acte de réception du navire en présence du vice-premier ministre russe Dmitri Rogozine et du ministre indien de la Défense Arackaparambil Kurian Antony.
Le Vikramaditya est doté d'un pont d'envol adapté aux chasseurs MiG-29K/KUB, de nouveaux radars, systèmes de navigation et autres équipements. Le navire quittera les eaux territoriales russes fin novembre pour arriver en Inde fin janvier ou début février 2014.
En 2004, la Russie et l'Inde ont signé un contrat prévoyant la modernisation du porte-avions soviétique Admiral Gorchkov, rebaptisé par la partie indienne Vikramaditya ("fort comme le Soleil"). Au terme de ce contrat, la Russie s'est engagée à effectuer des travaux de modernisation pour 750 millions de dollars et à fournir de l'aviation embarquée pour le même montant. Le navire devait être livré en 2008, mais sa remise à l'Inde a été ajournée à plusieurs reprises en raison de différends financiers. Le coût final du contrat atteint 2,3 milliards de dollars.
Aux termes de l'avenant au contrat signé en 2010, la livraison du bâtiment de guerre devait avoir lieu le 4 décembre 2012. Or, lors d'un essai en mer en septembre 2012, des défaillances ont été constatées, y compris dans le groupe propulseur du navire, amenant les chantiers navals russes à reporter la livraison à 2013.

ReplyDeleteThe Indian Navy has received the 44,500-ton Vikramaditya aircraft carrier at the Russian shipbuilding complex in Severodvinsk. The much awaited carrier was fully refurbished for US$2.3 billion, and will now become India’s game-changing flagship.
Russian deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and Indian Defense Minister AK Antony attended the handing over ceremony at the Sevmash shipyard of the northern Arctic port city, along with other senior government and naval officials of the two countries.
During the ceremony, a Russian flag on the vessel was lowered, and the flag of the Indian Navy was raised in its place. This was followed by a traditional Indian ritual, in which a coconut was smashed against the ship’s side. The ship’s new captain, Suraj Berry, and the deputy director of Russia’s arms export agency Rosoboronexport, Igor Sevastyanov, signed the final handover papers.
Rogozin called the carrier “a mighty contribution to security of India,” adding that India remains a privileged strategic partner of Russia. INS Vikramaditya, India’s largest warship arrives in Indian shores...
ReplyDeleteAircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya (former aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov, which was handed over to the Indian Navy in the Russian port of Severodvinsk in November) has arrived in the Karwar Naval Base on the cost of southern Indian state of Karnataka.
The warship reached the base on Wednesday, says IBN TV channel.
A source at the Indian Defence Ministry said that the ship will leave for Mumbai in February where it will be ceremoniously welcomed.
It’s expected that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will attend the ceremony, but the report has not been confirmed yet, he added.
According to Ferstpost Internet portal, it will take 3-4 months to commission the aircraft carrier. A team of Russian experts who will provide warranty service will stay in the Karwar base for one year.
INS Vikramaditya reached India without aircraft and weapons.
It left Severodvinsk on November 26 for its permanent base in India. It departed the Russianwaters on December 9.
A contract to modernize the cruiser Admiral Gorshkov was concluded in 2004 and was estimated at $750. Under the contract, Russia sold the modernized aircraft carrier for the same sum.
Originally, it was planned to handover the ship in 2008 but the deadline was postponed for several times owing to an increase in the amount of work.
The official ceremony of the handing over of the INS Vikramaditya was scheduled to December 4, 2012. But several defects including a failure of the boilers to work at peak capacity were discovered during testing. And the handing over date was postponed.
The new contract is estimated at $2.3 billion and is a supplement to the contract signed in 2004. The ship was handed over on November 16, 2013.
