Putin: in Ukraine, terror has been unleashed against civilians

Revision of the results of the Second World War is inadmissible, president said...

Neonazi forces in Ukraine are waging a war against civilians, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in an interview with China's leading media, pointing out that a revision of the results of the Second World War is inadmissible.

"Consequences (of such a revision) would be utterly dangerous; this is evidenced by the present-day tragic events in Ukraine, the rampancy of neonazi forces that unleashed a veritable terror against civilians," President Putin emphasized.

"Of course, we shall continue to resist attempts at falsifying history, at heroizing fascists and their henchmen, and at casting aspersions on the memory and good name of liberation heroes," he said. "We increasingly often encounter attempts to revise and distort history," the RF President underlined.

Putin expressed gratitude to the Chinese friends "for keeping the memory of thousands of our compatriots who gave their lives for the liberation of North-Eastern China from invaders".

Russia's President Vladimir Putin has ordered troops near Ukraine's border to withdraw, the Kremlin says.

Units in the Rostov, Belgorod and Bryansk regions should return to their permanent bases, a statement said.

Russia has made a similar statement in the past, only for Nato to report no change.

Correspondents say the removal of some 40,000 Russian troops near the Ukrainian border could help de-escalate the Ukraine crisis.

The apparent build-up of Russian forces in the region has ratcheted up diplomatic tensions in recent weeks.

"In connection with the completion of the planned spring phase of military training... at ranges in Rostov, Belgorod and Bryansk regions, Putin ordered the defence minister to withdraw the troops that took part in the exercises," the Kremlin statement provided to Russian news agencies said....................http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-27467807
