Ukraine to issue $1bln of 5-year US-backed eurobonds

The government of Ukraine has decided to issue $1 billion in five-year Eurobonds under US guarantees, according to a resolution published by the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

"Foreign-loan government bonds of 2014 to be issued for the total of one billion dollars," the statement said. The redemption date of the bonds is set at May 16, 2019.


On April 14, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak signed an agreement on borrowing safeguards between Ukraine and the United States Agency for International Development, including a provision for economic assistance to Ukraine in the form of $1 billion in loan guarantees to ensure Ukraine can meet its debt obligations this year.
