“We can confirm that he (Igor Kornelyuk) has been wounded, but there is no information as to the degree of his injuries at this time,” a Rossiya TV channel spokesman told RIA Novosti news agency.
Local anti-government forces say the correspondent “is in serious condition at the hospital after the mortar shelling of Mirny.”
According to RIA Novosti's own correspondent on the ground, the shelling is still ongoing.
The Rossiya correspondent’s cameraman was not injured in the attack.
The channel has issued a statement saying “the cameraman is alive. He has not been wounded and is alright.”
A local resident who witnessed the shelling said that a mine had apparently detonated right next to a group of journalists, of which the Rossiya crew was a part.
“Our hospital is receiving many wounded as the shelling continues,” a local doctor told RT over the phone.
He then confirmed two fatalities, but did not specify who they were.

Ukraine: un journaliste russe succombe à ses blessures dans l'est...
ReplyDeleteUn journaliste russe grièvement touché à l'abdomen lors d'une attaque dans l'est de l'Ukraine a succombé mardi à ses blessures, a annoncé à l'AFP un médecin de l'hôpital de Lougansk, l'un des bastions de l'insurrection prorusse.
"Il était inconscient en arrivant et est mort lors de son transfert à la salle d'opération", a déclaré par téléphone le médecin-chef de l'hôpital, Fedir Solianik. Selon ce médecin, Igor Korneliouk, un journaliste de la holding de télévision publique russe VGTRK, a été touché à l'abdomen par des éclats provenant d'une grenade ou d'une mine.
Un porte-parole des séparatistes à Lougansk a indiqué par téléphone à l'AFP que ce journaliste et son preneur de son, Anton Volochine, avaient été pris dans une attaque à la grenade lancée par les forces ukrainiennes près de la frontière avec la Russie.
Ce porte-parole a ajouté ne pas connaître le sort du preneur de son et d'une quinzaine de rebelles qui étaient avec l'équipe de télévision au moment de l'attaque. Aucun commentaire n'était disponible dans l'immédiat auprès des forces ukrainiennes.
Il s'agit du deuxième journaliste tué dans l'est de l'Ukraine depuis le début des opérations militaires le 13 avril. Le photographe italien Andrea Rocchelli avait été tué près de Slaviansk fin mai, ainsi que son assistant russe Andreï Mironov.
