BELGRADE. -- Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić has said that Serbia
strongly condemns the shooting down of a Malaysian passenger airplane in
Ukraine last week.
He said that the tragedy "is a consequence of the conflict that has long been underway in Ukraine."
"We appeal that every effort is made as soon as possible, and to help as much as we can. The most important thing is that there is a deescalation of the conflict. We demand an absolutely independent investigation of the crash," Dačić told reporters on Wednesday.
According to a Beta report, the minister said that "when it comes to harmonizing the Serbian foreign policy of the EU, Serbia will undoubtedly harmonize its policies with the EU."
"For us there is no doubt we will harmonize with the EU countries, but not even all member states hold the same position on all topics. We will conduct a balanced policy, and certainly there will be pressure from various sides," said Dačić.
