Iran denies deal to ship enriched uranium to Russia. ("The talks between Iran and the P5+1 group will be held on Nov. 11")

Iran on Tuesday denied media reports that it has agreed to ship part of its enriched uranium to Russia as part of a possible deal with powers on its controversial nuclear program.

"None of the speculations and rumors by foreign media, which are circulated for political ends, is confirmed," the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Marzieh Afkham, was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency.

A report by the New York Times on Monday said that Iran "has tentatively agreed to ship much of its huge stockpile of uranium to Russia if it reaches a broader nuclear deal with the West."

"Under the proposed agreement, the Russians would convert the uranium into specialized fuel rods for the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Iran's only commercial reactor. Once the uranium is converted into fuel rods, it is extremely difficult to use them to make a nuclear weapon," the report said, quoting officials and diplomats involved in the nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Such media reports are aimed at destroying the existing political climate ahead of the upcoming nuclear talks, Afkham said, adding that "regardless of such media hype, the Iranian negotiators will attend the talks considering only the national interests and observing the Iranians' rights."

On Sunday, Iran's senior nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said his country and the world powers would hold another round of sensitive nuclear talks in Muscat of Oman on Nov. 11.

"The talks between Iran and the P5+1 group will be held on Nov. 11 following the trilateral meeting (between Iran's foreign minister, the U. S. secretary of state and the EU foreign policy chief) in Muscat," Araqchi said.

Iran had already confirmed an earlier report by the U.S. State Department that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif will meet U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in Muscat on Nov. 9-10 to discuss Iran's nuclear standoff, just two weeks before the Nov. 24 deadline for a comprehensive deal on the controversial nuclear program of the Islamic republic.

Iran's uranium enrichment and the anti-Iran sanctions would be the topic of discussions in the trilateral meeting, Araqchi added.

A meeting of international mediators on Iranian nuclear program in Vienna helped moving closer to a breakthrough in talks with Tehran, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Friday.

  2. UN Nuclear Agency Makes No Progress in Iran Probe ...

Iran is failing to address suspicions it may have researched how to build an atomic bomb, a U.N. watchdog agency's report showed on Friday, potentially complicating efforts by six powers to reach a deal with Tehran on its nuclear program.

The report by the International Atomic Energy Agency said Tehran had still not provided information about two specific areas of the IAEA's investigation that it was supposed to do more than two months ago.

The confidential document was issued to IAEA member states less than three weeks before a self-imposed Nov. 24 deadline for Iran and the six global powers to end a decade-old standoff over the Islamic Republic's atomic activities.

“Iran has not provided any explanations that enable the agency to clarify the outstanding practical measures,” the IAEA report said..................http://www.voanews.com/content/un-nuclear-agency-makes-no-progress-in-iran-probe/2512200.html
