Το Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας αναμένεται να συγκληθεί στις 24:00 ώρα Ελλάδας, σύμφωνα με το Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο που επικαλείται διπλωματικές πηγές.
«Έχουμε αποφασίσει ότι θα καταθέσουμε προς ψήφιση στο Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας την πρόταση αυτή», δήλωσε η πρέσβειρα της Ιορδανίας στον ΟΗΕ, η Ντίνα Κάουαρ.
Οι ΗΠΑ, στενός σύμμαχος του Ισραήλ και μόνιμο μέλος του Συμβουλίου Ασφαλείας, επανέλαβαν σήμερα ότι θα απορρίψουν το κείμενο αυτό.
Νωρίτερα σήμερα και η Βρετανία τάχθηκε στο πλευρό των ΗΠΑ καθώς το Λονδίνο διαμήνυσε ότι δε μπορεί να υποστηρίξει το νέο σχέδιο ψηφίσματος που κατέθεσε η παλαιστινιακή πλευρά.
Ο πρεσβευτής της Βρετανίας στα ΗΕ Μαρκ Λάιαλ Γκραντ ρωτήθηκε από δημοσιογράφους εάν η βρετανική αντιπροσωπεία θα μπορούσε να υποστηρίξει το σχέδιο ψηφίσματος.
«Όχι», απάντησε ο πρεσβευτής, και τόνισε πως «υπάρχουν κάποια προβλήματα με το κείμενο» ειδικά όσον αφορά στο χρονοδιάγραμμα που θέτουν οι Παλαιστίνιοι.
