After that the supreme body of the EU executive power will take an appropriate decision, EC representative Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said.
“The European Commission took into account this announcement by Gazprom. Now our services will analyze it from the viewpoint of its economic sustainability, as well as regulatory efficiency and feasibility study before the final decision is taken,” Itkonen said.
Earlier the European Energy Commissioner Maros Sefcovic said the EC was ready to consider an offer made by Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller on purchasing 50-60 billion cubic meters of Russian gas via Turkey. “Mr. Miller informed me on the decision to fully supply [Russian] gas via Turkey instead of Ukraine. Frankly speaking, I was taken aback by this offer as I was going to discuss the possible ways of ensuring the energy security of South East Europe after the South Stream pipeline project was abandoned. Miller’s offer to European countries to buy 50-60 billion cubic meters of Russian gas via Turkey will hardly work, but we should come back to this offer and discuss it,” he said.

ReplyDeleteΗ εκπρόσωπος της Κομισιόν Άννα Κάισα Ιτκόνεν δήλωσε ότι η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή θα καθορίσει τη θέση της αφού προηγουμένως οι αρμόδιες υπηρεσίες της αναλύσουν κατά πόσον το σχέδιο της Gazprom είναι οικονομικά βιώσιμο. Παράλληλα, είπε, θα εξεταστούν οι ρυθμιστικές και νομικές δυνατότητες, αλλά και οι συνέπειες της απόφασης της Gazprom.
«Σε κάθε περίπτωση αναμένουμε ότι οι υποχρεώσεις που απορρέουν από τα υπάρχουσες συμφωνίες αερίου θα ικανοποιηθούν. Δεν έχουμε λόγο να αμφισβητήσουμε τη φήμη της Gazprom ως αξιόπιστο προμηθευτή αερίου», δήλωσε η Άννα Ιτκόνεν. Πρόσθεσε, μάλιστα, ότι η Επιτροπή καλεί την Gazprom να τηρήσει τη δέσμευσή της και να διερευνήσει όλες τις επιλογές προμήθειας στη νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη. «Η ασφάλεια της ενεργειακής προμήθειας και η συνεργασία για το αέριο στη νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη και στην Ουκρανία είναι ουσιώδους σημασίας για την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή», επανέλαβε η Α.
