It is absolutely ridiculous to consider Venezuela, Argentina a threat (Cristina Fernández de Kirchner)

Argentinian president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner addressed her American counterparts in the City of Panama calling for “honesty” in order to acknowledge the “root” of the problems challenging nations in the region.Drug trafficking
Alluding first to the message delivered by Colombian Juan Manuel Santos, President Kirchner affirmed the battle against drug trafficking demands to address the "problem of financing," with black money taken to "the banks and financial havens” belonging to developed countries.

“Thousands and thousands of millions of dollars that are laundered there; if this problem is not addressed, there will be no solution to drug trafficking,” Ms. Fernández stated.

“We will hold 20 summits and emerging countries will be left with the death and the guns that are also produced by developed countries,” she added also praising the “stubbornness” of Santos to lead the peace process in Colombia, a country that has been “territorially fractured, ”with “thousands of victims, deaths and people displaced to neighboring nations.”

Cuba
“It is a historic summit because the Republic of Cuba is taking part,” Cristina Kirchner said as she celebrated the diplomatic rapprochement between Washington and Havana.
However, the head of state highlighted that Cuba “is here because it fought with an unprecedented dignity” with “77 percent of its people that were born under the embargo.”

The Cuban process, Ms. Kirchner insisted, “was conducted by leaders who did not betrayed their fight but who were part of it.”

Responding to the president of the United States, Barack Obama, who had already spoken, Fernández de Kirchner said “history helps us understand what happened and foresee what might happen.”

“Let’s not be confused. Obama said he finds history not important or something like that. I love history because it helps me understand what happened, what happens and foresee what might happen. To understand why things happened; Cuba is not here and we are not here (only) witnessing the encounter of two leaders… Cuba is here because it fought with an unprecedented dignity,” Cristina Fernández affirmed.

Venezuela
“Truth is I did not come with an anti-imperialist response; the first I did was to laugh because I found it unbelievable, almost ridiculous. Not only Venezuela but no country in the continent can be considered a threat to the biggest power, the United States, a military, economic, financial, scientific power with a defence budget of 640 billion dollars,” the president of Argentina said urging Barack Obama to lift the decree that has recently declared Caracas a threat against the United States,.

“I listened to Obama, after signing the agreement with Iran, explaining his countrymen they should feel safe because the US was the most powerful country in the world,” CKF continued and linked the decree spat between the US and Venezuela with the position of the United Kingdom considering Buenos Aires a “threat,” justifying an increase in Britain’s military defence in the Malvinas Islands.

“The United Kingdom declaring my country a threat to its won territory, the Malvinas Islands: 2.3 percent of UK’s budget is allocated to defence. It is also absurd,” she assured saying the “similarity” between the stances of the US and the UK called her attention.
“I will not appeal to sovereignty. I will appeal to common sense. It is absolutely ridiculous considering any of us (regional countries) a threat.”

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner arrived today at noon at the Atlapa convention centre in the the City of Panama where regional leaders where attending the two-day meeting.
The head of state left the country past midday on Friday heading to Panama City, where she arrived around midnight (Argentina time).
This was her third and last OAS Summit as president of Argentina.
