UNGA session underway in times of unprecedented destabilization of international relations

The UN General Assembly session is underway in the times of unprecedented destabilization of international relations over the last years, Russia’s Envoy to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told Rossiya 24 TV channel on Friday.

"We see not only terrorism, but also an absolutely unprecedented destabilization of international relations over the last years," Churkin said. Among those responsible for this "are also American colleagues who often make decisions without approval from UN Security Council but think that other countries should respect these decisions," he added.

"[The United States] created a so-called coalition against ISIL [Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant — the former name of the Islamic State terrorist organization] and think that it is the international coalition which everyone should respect though it has no UN Security Council resolutions at its basis," the envoy stressed.

Churkin stressed there could be no better time for discussing global problems than at today’s Sustainable Development Summit in the framework of the 70th session of UN General Assembly when almost all world leaders have gathered in the headquarters of the international organization in New York.
