Malta to suspend Schengen agreement as security measure (media reports)

From midnight on Nov. 3 until Dec. 3, Malta is suspending its participation in the Schengen agreement, which means the border controls will be imposed on all passengers during this period, local media reported Tuesday.

This decision was taken as a security measure in view of the Valletta Migration Summit which will take place between Nov. 11 and 12, and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be held between Nov. 27 and 29.

The Schengen agreement is a system which grants passport-free transit between member countries.
