Russia’s operation in Syria is carried out in strict compliance with international law, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Monday.
Answering a journalist’s request to comment on media reports citing human rights organizations and claiming that Russia Aerospace Defense Forces are using banned cluster bombs in Syria, Peskov said: "Russia is carrying out its operation (in Syria) in strict compliance with the principles and norms of international law, including with those parts that deal with use or ban certain types of weapons."
The Kremlin has no information about the rumored death of several Russians fighting in Syria, presidential spokesman added.
"We have no such information. The more so, since the rumors are indirect ones, without any references. One can hardly say anything on that score," Peskov said about a publication in the Wall Street Journal claiming nine Russians had reportedly been killed in Syria while fighting for Bashar Assad’s army.
