Britain summons Russian ambassador after Litvinenko report

Britain on Thursday summoned the Russian ambassador after a report into the radiation poisoning murder of ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko and imposed asset freezes on the two men identified as the perpetrators.

Home Secretary Theresa May also told parliament the killing was "a blatant and unacceptable breach of the most fundamental tenets of international law".

British police said they still wanted the extradition of the two main suspects in the killing of the former spy.

"There are outstanding warrants for Andrey Lugovoi and Dmitri Kovtun who remain wanted for this murder," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

"Our objective will always be to put them before a criminal court."

Litvinenko's widow meanwhile called for sanctions against Russia and a travel ban on President Vladimir Putin after a British judge concluded the state was "probably" behind his murder...
