ISIS massacres 175 kidnapped cement factory workers in northeast Damascus

The Syrian army reported on Friday that the Islamic State group has executed 175 of the 300 cement factory workers kidnapped on Thursday northeast of Damascus.

An administrator at the Badiyah cement factory on Thursday said at least 250 employees had been unreachable since Monday.

The number of workers kidnapped was later reported to be as high as 344 workers.

The factory lies outside Dmeir, which has seen fierce fighting in recent days as government forces have shelled IS positions inside the town.

Earlier this week airstrikes killed several Al-Qaida-linked Al-Nusra Front members including its spokesman and regime forces have retaken a strategic town from the Islamic State group in the latest setbacks for jihadists in Syria.
