Dozens of people have been hospitalized and 26 arrested following clashes between police and protesters in Yerevan, Armenian authorities said Saturday.
Sixty people were taken to various hospitals around the capital to be treated for injuries including burns and broken limbs, the health ministry said.
There were also gun battles between police and this group on Friday.
Using truncheons, stun grenades and smoke bombs, police broke up a rally held in support of the gunmen, who are holding three medics.
Armenian police told AFP that 165 people were detained during the unrest, of whom 26 were later arrested. The rest were released...

ReplyDeleteLa police a utilisé matraques, bombes fumigènes et grenades incapacitantes face à cette manifestation en soutien aux hommes retranchés depuis deux semaines dans un commissariat de la capitale et qui y détiennent des otages pour exiger la démission du président Serge Sarkissian.
Selon les autorités, une soixantaine de personnes ont été emmenées dans les différents hôpitaux de la ville pour brûlures, fractures et autres blessures, et 165 personnes ont été interpellées. "26 d'entre elles ont finalement été arrêtées, les autres relâchées", a précisé la police à l'AFP. Des hommes armés, partisans de l'opposant emprisonné Jiraïr Sefilian, avaient fait irruption dans le commissariat le 17 juillet, tuant un policier et prenant plusieurs personnes en otage, réclamant la démission du président Serge Sarkissian.
Ils ont, depuis, libéré tous les policiers mais détiennent depuis mercredi trois membres du personnel médical qui étaient entrés dans le bâtiment pour soigner les blessés. L'un des hommes armés, Varuzhan Avetisyan, a déclaré vendredi à des journalistes qu'il était probable que les autorités soient en train de préparer un assaut, après avoir vu évoluer des drones pouvant larguer des explosifs.....rtbf.be

Vor dem Hintergrund einer seit zwei Wochen andauernden Geiselnahme hat es in der armenischen Hauptstadt Eriwan erneut heftige Krawalle gegeben. Bei Zusammenstößen zwischen der Polizei und Anhängern der Opposition wurden Dutzende Menschen verletzt. Nach Angaben der Behörden mussten mindestens 60 Menschen in Kliniken eingeliefert werden. 23 Oppositionsanhänger seien festgenommen worden.
Bewaffnete Männer hatten vor knapp zwei Wochen mehrere Polizisten als Geiseln genommen, um die Freilassung des Oppositionsführers Dschirair Sefiljan zu erzwingen.
