Six Russian Tu-22M3 bombers carried out airstrikes on ISIS positions near the city of Deir Ezzor on Sunday, Russian Defense Ministry announced in a statement.
“On August 14, 2016, six long-range bombers Tu-22M3 took off from an airport of location at the territory of the Russian Federation, carried out a concentrated airstrike with high-explosive fragmentation weapons on the facilities of ISIS southwest, east and northeast of the city of Deir Ezzor,” the statement said.
The statement added that “the airstrikes destroyed two command posts, six big ammunition depots, two tanks and four infantry combat vehicles, seven all-terrain vehicles with heavy guns, as well as killed many terrorists.”
The bombers successfully returned to the airport of location in Russia after fulfilling the tasks, according to the statement.
