Monitor says strike by U.S.-led coalition kills 16 north of Syria's Raqqa

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a U.S.-led coalition air strike killed at least 16 people overnight in a town north of Islamic State's Syrian stronghold of Raqqa.

The U.S.-led coalition said it had no information on the report by the war monitor, but would look into it.

  1. Syria conflict: Coalition strike 'kills 16 civilians near Raqqa'...

A US-led coalition air strike killed at least 16 civilians in a village north of so-called Islamic State's Syrian stronghold of Raqqa, activists say.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that six women and a child were among those who died in the raids on al-Heisha overnight.
The IS-held village has been the target of a US-backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters seeking to capture Raqqa.
The coalition said it was checking on the reports of the incident.
A spokeswoman for the Kurdish-Arab alliance, the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), dismissed them.
"There is no such thing, and any such claims are IS news," Jihan Sheikh Ahmed told the AFP news agency.....BBC
