ISIS suffers heavy losses in failed Deir Ezzor offensive

Last night, the so-called "Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham" (ISIS) launched a massive offensive in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, targeting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) controlled Al-Mozafeen District and Al-Maqabr area.

ISIS began the assault by storming the small mountain inside the Al-Maqabr area; this resulted in a fierce battle with the Syrian Arab Army's Nafez Assadallah Group.

Following the attack on the mountain, an ISIS unit attacked the Syrian Arab Army's defenses at the cemetery in the Al-Maqabr area, resulting in another fierce battle that lasted for nearly two hours last night.

Despite claiming their forces advanced in Deir Ezzor last night, the Islamic State terrorists were unable to penetrate the Syrian Arab Army's defenses; this would be confirmed by members of the Republican Guard's "Al-Qassem Group" this morning.

According to members of the Al-Qassem Group, the Islamic State suffered a large number of casualties on the battlefield last night, forcing them to withdraw from the area around 11:30 P.M. (Damascus Time).
