Media: Driver of truck that plowed into German market crowd was refugee

The driver of the truck that plowed into a crowd of Christmas shoppers at a Berlin market, killing at least nine people and injuring dozens, had entered Germany as a refugee and is probably Pakistani, according to reporting by German daily Die Welt.


The paper said it relied on sources close to the investigation, adding that the suspect had entered the country requesting asylum in February 2016.
