UN Ethos: Lavrov wonders why UN is not using Castello Road to deliver humanitarian aid to Aleppo

Moscow is curious why the United Nations has not yet started humanitarian deliveries to Aleppo via the Castello Road, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

"The Syrian army, with our support, has taken control over some 40% of Eastern Aleppo," Lavrov said at the Mediterranean Dialogues forum. "The threat to the Castello Road has been removed. We said in Geneva that the humanitarian corridor via this road will be organized and open."

"Previously, the United Nations used this road more than once," the Russian top diplomat noted.

"Aid might have been sent to the city after that. We have no idea why the United Nations has not begun to act in this direction until now."
