Geneva Talks on Syria postponed until 20 February

Diplomats announced on Tuesday that UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura had informed the Security Council that Geneva talks on the settlement of crisis in Syria have been postponed until February 20.

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, affirmed on Friday that Geneva talks, which were scheduled on February 8, are postponed until the end of February.

AFP quoted two diplomats, who participated in the closed- door meeting of the Security Council, as saying that de Mistura stressed the delay “to ensure the talks would be comprehensive as far as possible.”
