Karzai condemns US using largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan

The former president of Afghanistan condemned the US dropping of the largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan in his Twitter account.

In his three twits, Karzai 'vehemently' and 'strongly' condemned the US dropping of the world’s most powerful non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan, adding, “This is not the war on terror but the inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country as testing ground for new and dangerous weapons”.

He also wrote, “It is upon us, Afghans, to stop the USA”.

On Thursday, the Pentagon announced that the US army had used the biggest non-nuclear bomb in a district named Achin in the eastern Nangarhar Province near the border of Pakistan to target a network of caves and tunnels in which ISIS terrorist were hiding.

This bomb, called “the Mother of all Bombs” was tested in 2003 and had never been used in battle since then. The bomb contained 11 tons of explosives and designed to destroy tunnels and caves.

According to Reuters, “White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the bombing ‘targeted a system of tunnels and caves that ISIS fighters used to move around freely, making it easier for them to target U.S. military advisers and Afghan forces in the area.’”

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday said he no longer recognizes the present government of the country, led by Ashraf Ghani, after it failed to oppose the recent launch of the so-called "mother of all bombs" by the United States in Afghanistan.

The National Unity Government, led by Ghani with chief executive Abdullah Abdullah, was formed in 2014, after a grave political crisis that was resolved with the creation of a new post of chief executive for the losing presidential candidate.

"I no longer recognize the National Unity Government as the formal government and as my representative administration," Karzai said at a press conference in Kabul.

Karzai, who was the president of Afghanistan between 2001 and 2014, said the members of the current government "do not even know national sovereignty."

Karzai criticized the present leaders of the country for allowing the US to drop the GBU-43 bomb which, according to Afghan authorities, killed 94 members of the Islamic State terror organization and destroyed an important base used by the group.
