At least one dead and several injured in London terrorist attacks

At least one person was killed and several more injured in two terrorist attacks on Saturday night in London, while the Metropolitan Police (Met) investigates a third violent event unrelated to the previous ones.

The first attack occurred on London Bridge, where a van drove into several pedestrians, another at the nearby market in Borough, where an attack with guns and knives is being investigated.

The third violent incident occurred in the Vauxhall neighborhood of South London.

On London bridge, busy with people on a warm night, a white van drove into several passers-by at about 21.30 GMT, according to witnesses.

Police officer Nick Brandon of the Transport Police reported that a knife attack had also occurred after the collisions at the central London bridge.

According to witnesses, the van came from the center of the capital and was headed south of the River Thames, and after the attack "about five or six people" received medical treatment.

Scotland Yard announced that it deployed armed police in the Borough market, near the bridge, where at least one person was stabbed in a place full of bars and restaurants.

Police in London are also responding to another incident unrelated to terrorism in the Vauxhall neighborhood. The Metropolitan Police said on their Twitter account: "The incident at #Vauxhall is a stabbing and is not connect to the incidents at #LondonBridge & #BoroughMarket."

British Prime Minister Theresa May will chair a meeting of the Cobra emergency committee on Sunday to discuss these acts of violence, a Downing Street official confirmed Sunday.

May described the terrorist acts as "terrible", and said ""This is a fast moving investigation."

"I want to express my huge gratitude to the police and emergency services who are on the scene. Our thoughts are with those who are caught up in these dreadful events." she said in a statement.
