Car hits pedestrians at Amsterdam Central Station, 8 injured

In front of Amsterdam Central Station a car hit pedestrians and crashed against a wall at around 9 p.m. local time, injuring eight people, Amsterdam police said on Saturday.

The driver of the car was arrested and questioned. According to the Amsterdam police it doesn't seem to be a set up attack, but after the arrest it became clear that the suspect was not feeling well.

The area in front of the station was briefly sealed after the incident. The crashed car has been taken away.

According to the statement by the Amsterdam police, the car was parked at a place where was not allowed, after which police officers told the car driver about his obstruction. The car driver then drove away with high speed across the Stationsplein square in front of the station, hitting several people and crashing to the subway entrance wall.
