China asks US to stop air incursions that threaten its security

China's Defense Ministry confirmed Tuesday an encounter between two of its fighter jets and a United States surveillance plane in the East China Sea, and urged Washington to stop these missions that threaten its national security.


The action taken by Chinese pilots to intercept the US plane during the encounter, which occurred over the weekend, were legal, necessary and professional, the ministry said on its website.
