Zakharova: Provocative campaigns against Syrian government aim at preparing ground to accuse it of chemical weapons use

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova affirmed that the provocative media campaigns against Syrian government aimed at preparing ground to accuse it of use of chemical weapons.

“According to the available information, Syrian terrorist groups are planning staged provocations with the use of chemical weapons to ground the US airstrikes on the positions of Syria’s pro-government forces,” Zakharova said in a press conference on Thursday.

Zakharova noted that “Faylaq al-Rahman” and “Jaish al-Islam” terrorist organizations have chemical weapons in Ain Tarma in Damascus countryside , as ISIS terrorist organization is transferring workshops and equipment for the production of ammunition, including chemical weapons to Deir Ezzor and al-Bukamal cities.

“We will continue to consistently seek the most professionally rigorous and politically impartial investigation into the investigation of both the Khan Sheikhoun chemical incident and other persistent chemical provocations against the legitimate Syrian government,” Zakharova said.
