Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, who is on an official visit to the Central Asian country, called Friday for an increase in the number of observer countries in the next round of Syrian peace talks in Astana.
"It would be useful to expand the number of observer countries, but this will require agreement on the part of all the countries that started this process. But even if they don't formally participate in the Astana process, (the presence of) some states would significantly contribute to its success," Lavrov said during a joint press conference in Astana.
