EE.UU. envió 2 bombarderos estratégicos B-52 a Oriente Medio para mostrar su disposición de responder a cualquier agresión de sus adversarios, anunció este miércoles el comandante del Mando Central, general Frank McKenzie.
Los aviones volaron sin parar desde la Base de la Fuerza Aérea de EE.UU. de Minot (Dakota del Norte) a la región del golfo Pérsico y regresaron a territorio estadounidense este miércoles.
"Estados Unidos continúa desplegando sus capacidades para el combate en el área de responsabilidad del Mando Central de EE.UU. para disuadir a cualquier posible adversario y dejar claro que estamos listos y somos capaces de responder a cualquier agresión dirigida contra los estadounidenses o nuestros intereses", declaró McKenzie, citado por AP.
Precisó que su país "no busca un conflicto", "pero nadie debe subestimar nuestra capacidad de defender a nuestras fuerzas o de actuar decisivamente ante cualquier ataque".

The United States flew strategic bombers over the Persian Gulf on Wednesday for the second time this month, a show of force meant to deter Iran from attacking American or allied targets in the Middle East.

The officer was not authorized to publicly discuss internal assessments based on sensitive intelligence and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The B-52 bomber mission, flown round trip from an Air Force base in North Dakota, reflects growing concern in Washington, in the final weeks of President Donald Trump’s administration, that Iran will order further military retaliation for the US killing last Jan. 3 of top Iranian military commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani. Iran’s initial response, five days after the deadly US drone strike, was a ballistic missile attack on a military base in Iraq that caused brain concussion injuries to about 100 US troops.
