People found breaching the Morrison government’s controversial travel ban stopping Australians returning home from India could face hefty fines and jail time.
Anyone who has spent time in India within 14 days of their intended arrival date in Australia could face a $66,000 fine and a five-year jail term for breaking the travel ban.
Many have labelled the ban unconstitutional and it is possible the government could be challenged on its decision in the courts. The decision will be reassessed on May 15.
