(FNA)- Dominic Dwyer, an Australian representative on the World Health Organization's (WHO) study into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, defended the team's findings, telling ABC News that "there was no evidence to back up the lab escape theory".
Professor Dwyer's remarks came after President Joe Biden ordered US intelligence agencies to carry out extra investigations into the source of the coronavirus pandemic.
"The fact that President Biden says he's getting conflicting reports from his intelligence agencies, to me, suggests there is no clear evidence. Otherwise, it would be obvious what was going on," Dwyer stated.
- The WHO warned on Friday that efforts to find the origin of the coronavirus pandemic were being undermined by politics.
"We would ask that we separate the science from the politics, and let us get on with finding the answers that we need in a proper, positive atmosphere," WHO emergencies chief Michael Ryan told reporters, Deutsche Welle reported.
"This whole process is being poisoned by politics," he said.
