US biggest destroyer of international order - China.org.cn

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Tuesday refuted U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's recent remarks, reiterating that China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order.

Spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks during a daily press briefing calling the United States the biggest destroyer of international order.

During his recent trip to Europe, Blinken reportedly told the press that the goal of the United States involving China is to support the free and open system based on rules and standards established after World War II.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement that Blinken and European leaders discussed transatlantic cooperation in response to China's economic "coercion" and attempts to disrupt the rules-based international order.

"The United States wantonly pulls out of international treaties and organizations, and arbitrarily imposes illegal unilateral sanctions and engages in military intervention and coercion against other countries, which have seriously harmed international as well as regional peace and stability and seriously violated international law and the basic norms governing international relations," Wang said.

The "international order based on rules and standards" claimed by Blinken is essentially a hegemonic order to allow the United States to dominate the world, the spokesperson said, adding that most countries in the world, including allies of the United States, do not agree with it.

"There is only one system in the world and that is the international system with the United Nations at its core, and there is only one set of rules, that is the basic norms governing international relations with the UN Charter as its cornerstone," said Wang.

He added that the international order should not be a hegemonic one dominated by the United States, and international rules should not be formulated by the United States or a "small clique" headed by the United States.

All countries should uphold the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, practice true multilateralism, promote the democratization of international relations, and join hands to build a community with a shared future for humanity, Wang said.
