South Korea's foreign ministry has expressed disappointment at the decision by top officials in the Japanese government... on the anniversary of the end of World War Two... to pay their respects at the controversial Yasukuni Shrine, saying it's a glorification of Japan's past militarism.
The latest to do so is Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who did not go to the shrine himself but sent a ritual offering,... while three of his Cabinet ministers did go in person today.
Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also went.
The shrine honors Japan's war dead, including 14 Class A war criminals, so visits there are highly provocative to Japan's neighbors the two Koreas and China.
On Friday, the shrine was visited by two other top officials, including Japan's defense minister.
