Russia declares 'silence regime' in Ukraine from 10 a.m. Tuesday, ready to provide humanitarian corridors from several cities - Russian HQ

(Interfax) - Russia announces a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine from 10 a.m. on Tuesday and is ready to provide humanitarian corridors from Kyiv and several other towns, Russia's Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine stated on Monday.

"For the purpose of an efficient humanitarian operation: (...) from 10 a.m. (Moscow time) March 8, 2022 the Russian Federation declares a 'regime of silence' and is ready to provide humanitarian corridors from Kyiv and nearby towns to the Russian Federation via Gomel, Belarus, with subsequent delivery by air to the Russian Federation. In the south, upon agreement with Ukraine," the statement said.

Similar corridors will also be provided from Chernihiv, via Gomel, with subsequent air transport to Russia; from the south, upon agreement with Ukraine, from Sumy in two directions: to Poltava and to Belgorod (Russia), then by air, rail and road to the chosen destination points or temporary accommodation centers; in the south, upon agreement with Ukraine; from Kharkiv to Belgorod, then by air, rail and road to the chosen points of destination or temporary accommodation centers; Lviv, Uzhhorod, Ivano-Frankivsk, upon agreement with Ukraine; from Mariupol in two Russian cities: Rostov-on-Don, via Novoazovsk, and Taganrog; Zaporizhzhya, upon agreement with Ukraine, the headquarters aid.

"Said announcement to be immediately communicated to Ukraine [Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Andriivna Vereshchuk) and proposed before 3 a.m. (Moscow time) March 8, 2022," it said.

  1. Russian authorities have been inundated with evacuation requests from citizens across Ukraine, the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine stated on Monday.

    "Between March 5 and 7, 2022 alone, the official structures of the Russian Federation and the Russian Federation's Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine has logged 2,000,417 such requests," the statement said.

    "Given the persistent continuous requests from foreign embassies and numerous direct pleas from Ukrainian citizens for evacuation from virtually every populated c enter, the Russian Federation is ready to prepare and carry out the humanitarian operation," the document said.

  2. La viceprimera ministra de Ucrania, Irina Vereshuk, ha tachado de "inaceptables" los corredores humanos propuestos por Rusia para la evacuación de la población civil.

    Previamente, el Ministerio de Defensa ruso propuso evacuar a los residentes de las ciudades ucranianas mediante los corredores humanitarios hacia Rusia y Bielorrusia.
