China’s Foreign Ministry urges US to stop dangerous provocative actions in Taiwan Strait - TASS

China’s authorities are urging the US to cease dangerous and provocative actions in the Taiwan Strait, according to a commentary by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin made on the arrival of a US destroyer in the region at a regular briefing on Wednesday.

"We hope that the US will observe the One China principle and cease dangerous and provocative actions in the Taiwan Strait," he said.

Earlier, the command of the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy reported that the guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson passed through the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday. According to the statement, the ship’s actions complied with international law.

Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command, expressed protest to the US over this operation. He added that the PLA forces accompanied the American destroyer along its entire route.
