EU freezes assets of Russian, Belarusian citizens, entities with total value nearing 30 bln euros - document

 (Interfax) - The European Union has frozen assets of Russian and Belarusian individuals and entities under restrictions to a total sum of 29.5 billion euros, the European Commission said in a press release on Friday.


"So far, more than half of the Member States have reported to the Commission the measures taken to freeze assets. They informed about frozen assets worth Eur 29.5 billion, including assets such as boats, helicopters, real estate and artwork, worth almost Eur 6.7 billion," the press release said.

"In addition, about Eur 196 billion of transactions have been blocked," it said.

According to the press release, the measures are taken within the framework of the Freeze and Seize Task Force set up by the EU in March 2022 to freeze assets of individuals and entities under restrictions. The Group is meeting with U.S. and Ukrainian representatives on Friday to discuss cooperation in the area, and such meetings will become regular, the press release said.

Darunter seien Schiffe, Hubschrauber, Immobilien und Kunst, teilte die EU-Kommission am Freitag in Brüssel mit. Zudem seien Überweisungen in Höhe von 196 Milliarden Euro blockiert worden, hieß es.
