Hungarian government 'does not support' Russian oil and gas embargo: official - China.org.cn

The Hungarian government does not support the oil and gas embargo against Russia, a senior official said on Monday.

"The Hungarian position on the oil and gas embargo has not changed: we do not support it!" Zoltan Kovacs, secretary of state for international communications and relations wrote on his Facebook page.

Kovacs reacted to a report made by German public television channel ZDF, according to which following a change of position in Germany, all European Union (EU) member states were now willing to support the EU's suspension of Russian oil imports as part of a new crackdown on Russia due to its conflict with Ukraine.

  1. Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Richard Sulik said that if the European Union imposes an embargo on the import of Russian oil, the state will seek an exception for itself.

He explained this by the fact that oil from the Russian Federation is vital for the country’s economy. TASS writes about it.

Sulik said the following: “Slovakia will insist on granting an exception for itself in the event of a decision by the European Union to impose an embargo on supplies oil”.

As previously reported by the Public News Service, companies should be allowed to temporarily basis pay for energy resources supplied from Russia in rubles. This statement was made by the Italian Minister for Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani.
