Peskow zufolge wird die Antwort auf die Blockade des Kaliningrader Gebiets nach einer eingehenden Analyse gewählt:

    "Die Situation ist in der Tat mehr als ernst und sie erfordert eine sehr gründliche Analyse, bevor Maßnahmen und Entscheidungen getroffen werden. Diese gründliche Analyse wird in den nächsten Tagen durchgeführt werden."

 Lithuania's decision to restrict transit to the Kaliningrad Region requires serious analysis, and the Russian authorities will tackle the issue within a few days. A decision on retaliatory measures will be taken based on its results, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

"This decision is truly unprecedented. It is a violation of absolutely everything. We understand that this is due to the relevant decision of the European Union - to extend sanctions to transit. We also consider it illegal," he argued.

"The situation is really very serious, and it requires a very deep analysis before preparing any measures or any decisions. This thorough analysis will be carried out over the next few days," he assured.

"It's an element of the blockade, of course," he said. Meanwhile, Peskov did not answer the question of whether the Kremlin received proposals from the Kaliningrad authorities on possible retaliatory measures. "I repeat once again: we need a serious, in-depth analysis in order to hammer out response decisions," he said.

Governor Anton Alikhanov of the Kaliningrad Region reported earlier that Lithuanian officials had informed the region’s railway authorities of a ban on the transit of a range of goods through their territory due to the EU’s anti-Russian sanctions from June 18. [TASS]
