Ukraine ‘regrets’ Zhibek Zholy departure

Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko says “we regret that Russia’s ship Zhibek Zholy… was allowed to leave Karasu port despite criminal evidence presented to the Turkish authorities.”

Turkey’s ambassador in Kyiv will be called to provide an explanation for this “unacceptable situation”, he added.

The Russian cargo vessel was detained by Turkish authorities on Sunday. Ukraine claims it was carrying stolen Ukrainian grain from the port of Berdyansk.
